This guide will walk you through the steps of configuring Microsoft 365 services, such as email, in your cPanel hosting account. Follow these instructions to seamlessly integrate your Microsoft 365 services with your domain.

Pre-Requisites:

•A Microsoft 365 subscription (Business or Enterprise plan).

•Access to your cPanel account.

•The MX records and other DNS details provided by Microsoft 365.

Steps to Configure Microsoft 365 Services:

Step 1: Log in to cPanel

1.Go to your hosting account’s cPanel login page (usually yourdomain.com/cpanel).

2.Enter your username and password to log in.

Step 2: Add Your Domain to Microsoft 365

Before you modify DNS settings, ensure that your domain is added to your Microsoft 365 account.

1. Sign in to your Microsoft 365 Admin Center.

2. Go to Setup > Domains.

3.Add your domain (e.g., yourdomain.com) if it’s not already added.

4.Follow the prompts to verify your domain by adding a TXT record to your domain’s DNS (this step may take up to 24-48 hours).

Step 3: Set Up DNS Records in cPanel

To start using Microsoft 365 services, you’ll need to update your DNS records in cPanel.

1.In your cPanel, go to the Zone Editor under the Domains section.

2.Click Manage next to the domain you wish to configure.

3.You’ll need to add the following DNS records provided by Microsoft 365:

MX Record: This ensures your email is routed through Microsoft 365.

CNAME Records: These allow you to configure services like Outlook, Teams, and OneDrive.

TXT Records: Used for domain verification and email authentication (SPF).

SRV Records: Necessary for Skype for Business/Teams.

Autodiscover Record: Used for automatic configuration of email clients.

Step 4: Add MX Records

1.MX Record: Add the Microsoft 365 MX record to your DNS settings.

Name: @ or leave it blank (depends on your cPanel version).

Type: MX

Priority: 0

Value: The Microsoft 365 MX server (something like yourdomain-com.mail.protection.outlook.com).

2.Save the changes and allow up to 24 hours for the changes to take effect.

Step 5: Add CNAME and TXT Records

1.CNAME Records: Add the following CNAME records to ensure proper functioning of services like Outlook and Teams.

Name: autodiscover

Type: CNAME

Value: autodiscover.outlook.com

2.TXT Record: For email security and domain verification, add the provided TXT record to verify the domain with Microsoft 365 and implement SPF (Sender Policy Framework).

Name: @

Type: TXT

Value: The TXT record provided by Microsoft 365.

Step 6: Set Up Email Accounts

1.After updating your DNS records, go to the Email Accounts section in cPanel.

2.Create your email account(s) by entering the desired username (e.g., [email protected]).

3. Set the password and click Create Account.

Step 7: Configure Email Client (Outlook)

1.Open Microsoft Outlook or your preferred email client.

2.Choose Manual Setup and select Microsoft 365 as the account type.

3.Enter the following information:

Email Address: Your full Microsoft 365 email (e.g., [email protected]).

Password: Your Microsoft 365 account password.

Incoming Mail Server: outlook.office365.com

Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP): smtp.office365.com

4.Test the connection and save the configuration.

Step 8: Verify Everything Is Working

•Test your email by sending and receiving messages.

•Ensure services like Teams and OneDrive are linked to your domain.

•Check if Outlook syncs properly with your email and calendar.

Troubleshooting:

DNS Propagation: Changes to DNS can take up to 48 hours. Be patient while waiting for the changes to propagate.

Email Delivery Issues: Ensure your MX records are set correctly and that the SPF records are configured properly to prevent emails from being marked as spam.

Autodiscover Not Working: Double-check that the CNAME record for autodiscover is correctly configured.
